Today in class I read from the Hebrew Bible, what Christians commonly call the Old Testament. How did you feel about this? Is it ok for public school teachers to use the Bible or other scripture in class? Who should get to decide the answers to these questions--governments, school boards, principals, teachers, students?

As you read from the Hebrew Bible ( originally called the Old Testament ) I felt extremely okay with it, but for others I don't know how they felt. They may have felt differently from the way i felt about you reading the Hebrew Bible. They might of felt that it was disrespectful to read from the Hebrew Bible. I might think it's okay to use the Bible or any other scripture in class but other may think it's not okay to use the scripture in class. I think the Government should decide who gets to use Bibles or other scriptures in schools.

I felt bored about this. And it is not okay for public teachers to use the Bible or other scripture in class. Because in America, everyone might have different religion, and it is everyone’s own thing, I don’t think it is good to say this kind of things in class. Actually, students should decide the answer because students are the people who receive the education.

Today in class when you read a part from the bible personally I was fine with it. I feel that others could object to that. They might argue that you were trying to force a region. I think that it is fine if you read it as long as you don't give your opinion on the religion. I believe that everyone should have a say in whether they should be aloud to read from the bible but I feel that the government should have the overall say in what really happens.

When you read from the Hebrew Bible, I felt that it was interesting and I didn't have a problem with it. Most kids in my opinion wouldn't care about the teacher using the bible in class, but there is always a student here and there that would be offended by it. I think that the teachers should be allowed to do this as long as it is relating to the topic they are reviewing.

When you read from the Old Testament it didn't bother me. It is okay for public school teachers to use the bible or anything else because it is a public school they can use any resource they want. I think the school board should chose if a teacher can use the bible or not because, if one person does not like the bible they can chose a different school district.

I immediately had found it very interesting when you had started class off by reading a segment from the bible, many things had went through my mind. I was thinking things like is he aloud to do this, or is this some type of different bible. I thought it was very interesting that you had done this, and I have no problem with you reading it because it will not change my opinion of my religion or even make it stronger. In my opinion the best way to deal with this issue is through the government because they are stronger then something such as a school district and will be able to deal with it much easier.

I was ok with you reading the Old Testament but maybe some kids would not be ok with it. I think that the government should make rules on if you are aloud to read the bible in public schools.

I felt fine with it due to the fact i am catholic. I feel that it is OK for teachers to read from the bibles or scriptures. I feel the students should vote on this because they are the ones being affected by it.

For me, i was fine with you reading from the Bible. I was okay with it since i am catholic, but other students might not since not everyone has the same religion. I think it is okay that teachers read parts of the bible. I think the government should decide if schools are allowed to read from the bible or any other scriptures.

I felt good about reading/listening to the bible, it has interesting stories and more. I am catholic, I went to catholic school. As long as the teacher is not forcing or trying to persuade a student to change his beliefs, i think it should be aloud. I think that the government should chose if we can learn religion or read the bible. It would be unfair if only specific public schools were approved to religious teaching. I am against non religious teachings in all public schools.Lastly, like I said in the beginning of the paragraph I am catholic.

For me is fine, I don't realy care about religioun. But I feel extremly boring. Students can decide it because is read for students. Govornment should agree with it, it maybe helpful for something they want. And I can't undersand it as well.

I felt perfectly fine when you read from the old testament. I felt this way because you did not force the idea that this is what we should believe in. Obviously you did not read from the bible to try and convert us to be christian/jewish. Instead I am guessing it was part of your lesson for Inherit the wind with the trial of whether you can read the theory of evolution or not.

When you read the Bibble in class it was agianst the law. However, we, the students, we're okay with it. Also, I think that the law should be changed because its a freedom of speech to read the Bibble.

I really felt indifferent when you read the bible, not just because I am Catholic but its good to put it up against Darwin's Theory of evolution and I honesty don't mid if teachers teach about other religions because i can except that everybody has some form of faith. I think that most people should have a say about this not just the government or just the school board.

When you read the book it did not make me mad or upset, although I am Catholic it doesn't mean that's why I didn't get upset. I feel as though as long as their is a good lesson to learn from something than it is okay to read it as long as your not using it to convert someone. Since it was used to compare evolution and religion than it is okay to do what you did.
