Post your introductions here. Due Friday.
Put your thesis statement for our essay on summer reading here!!!
I want to hear from you! This year our 9th graders read The Hunger Games. But the summer reading book we choose changes from year to year. In your opinion, (in order from 1 to 10, 1 being the best) what 10 books are the all-time greatest books for summer reading (for 9th grade)?
Your assignment: In 4-6 sentences, post your reaction to this story. What do you think about what Connie does?
Today in class we discussed using effective topic sentences. Effective topic sentences echo the prompt and answer the prompt. They are concise and communicate your full thought.
In this blog, choose TWO of the questions below and write atopic sentence that responds to each. That means you are writing TWO topic sentences, one for each prompt. - How does Lessing create tension and excitement in the story? - How does Jerry feel after successfully swimming through the tunnel and why? - What does the tunnel symbolize? - Is Jerry a static or dynamic character? - What kind of relationship does Jerry have with his mother? Today we discussed something that I found interesting in The Hunger Games: the power of the media. The media (including TV, internet, newspapers & radio) is the avenue through which we learn about the world. Therefore, the media is VERY important in our lives. Does it report on events accurately? Honestly? How much control does the government have over what the media says? This was an issue raised in The Hunger Games that I found interesting.
Your assignment: In 4-6 sentences, describe a topic in the The Hunger Games that was interesting to YOU. Why do you find it interesting? |
