Women in mythological times were very differnt than the women in our time. Women in mythological times were expected to marry in the teenage years, whereas women usually marry in their late or early twenties. Women today usually aren't supposed to make their parents proud by marrying, but it is nice. There are also some very similar things between these two time periods. Women today still have to be pretty to attract males. Women are also expected to stay home and tend to the house back then and nowadays.

Women in Odysseus's time had many different standards from today. The women could not choose who they married. They had to accept whoever their parents chose for them without complaining. women also didn't have the option of working outside of the home. they stayed home, raised children, took care of their household. In current times, women can marry whoever they want to, and have the option of working. Many women choose to remain at home and raise kids just like in Homer's time, and many of their responsibilities are still the same, though.

In the odyssey cultural values about women are similar and different to our time. They are similar in cultural values because in the story "The Odyssey" the women usually stay home and the men go off to war. Women are different in cultural values because the women in "The Odyssey" are married at young ages. On the other hand women now are married a lot older then they were during this story. They are also different because in "The Odyssey" women are married off to other men but in our current society women have a choice in who they marry.

The view of women in Homer's time is much different than view of women now, but there are also some similairites. Woman during Homer's time cleaned, and now, most women clean the house while the father is at work. Also, most women want a big elagant wedding, like women during Homer's time. Next, women back then, were viewed as beautiful, pretty beings. Now, the ideal women is the same. That is how women back in Homer's time are viewed similair to women now.

The values of women in Homer's time and today are different and similar in many ways. During Homer's time, the appearance of females was highly looked upon. Also, the women were meant to be very elegant and mannerly. Today, it is expected to have good manners and be "classy",but it does not determine whether you will marry or not. Women today have more "rights" and are (almost) treated equally to men. Also, during the time of The Odyssey, marriage and appearance were connected. Today, marriage is decided upon the relationship/connection between the couple.

The cultural values about women in Homer's time is different from our culture because how they acted and what they do. In Homer's time they had to act obiedient and helpful. They also had to do household things like cooking and cleaning. But in our culture today they have jobs, they get an education, and are in the service. What is also different between them is weddings, in Homer's time the weddings had to elegant and they were arranged. But in this culture today, women can marry whoever they want, have the wedding how they want it. So the culture is different.

One major difference between the cultural values of women is that in the story you can not be seen with some random man that looks dirty. If this happened then you would be a discrase to your family and give them a bad name. If this happened in our time then people would talk about you but they wouldnt go back to your family with stories about you. Another difference is that in our time you can marry whoever you want, someone that is good for you and makes you happy and you would be able to spend the rest of your life with. In this time a young woman had to marry a wealthy man that they really didnt care that much about and did not make them happy. My final difference between them is that in this time you had to have a big wedding, it had to be elegant and the best wedding ever and noone could have one better. In our time you could have any type of weddign you wanted, it could be small and settle and only close familyand friends. In my opinion everything had to be perfect in that time or you would discrase your family. In our time noone really cares and has there own problems to worry about rather then everyone elses buisness.

The cultural values about women in Homer's time is different and similar from our culture's values about women today. One reason it is different was because, women are viewed as having to have high morals where as today there are many women who do not care about their reputations. Another reason it is different is because marriages in Homer's time were arranged, when in todays times women can marry whom ever they choose. A reason our times are similar to Homer's is because women then, and now, are expected to look nice and pretty at all times. In the Odyssey cultural values about women are both similar and different from our culture's values about women today.

There are many different and similar cultural values between Homer and our time . One cultural similarity between our times are women always want to have a good appearance. Girls need to grab guys attention with their looks. One cultural difference between our times are in Homer's world parents wanted girls to marry a guy who was rich and a guy with a good reputation. In our society people marry for one reason in the end, which is love.

The cultures for womens marriages in current time are way different from The Odyssey. In The Odyssey, the cultures for the marriage is to have a clean, elegent and a "pretty" apperence wedding. Also, you should be marrying a wealthy man that has a good reputation. Marrying that kind of man will make your parents proud. In current time, you should marry people because you love and care aout them. Your parents will be happy if you are happy. And your wedding can be anyway you want it. In The Odyssey it didn't really matter if you cared about the person you were marrying, you just needed to marry someone that would give your family a good or better name/reputation. That doesn't really matter in current time. That is how the cultures in womens marriages are different from current time and The Odyssey.

I think a lot of the culture's values about woman are diffrent from today and many are the same. One value that is diffrent is we are not so strict now about woman not hanging out with men, many girls have a lot of guy friends today. One value that is the same is girls always want to look good. Another diffrence is they cared a lot more about marrying into wealth then, and now most people marry for love. Now to make your parents proud men and woman have to do a lot of the same things like do well in school, be nice to others, be polite. Back then to make their parents proud woman had to do a lot of diffrent things from men such as clean, marry in wealth, have elegant weddings,

The cultural values of the women in our time and the time of homer are very different. For example, in homers time women were should be seen moral. which means they normally didnt have friends who were guys. Back then women were also supossed to make their parents pround when they married in these times that sometimes doesnt happen. weddings were also supossed to be very elegant and pretty. now some people have fast weddings like in vegas or they have makeshift weddings that by ther standards back then wouldnt be that elegant.

Cultural values were much different in homers time. Women back then would be in charge of cleaning and other chores while men would do jobs and stuff. Today women have jobs and they are allowed to do alot more than they were allowed to do in homers time.

Women today, and women of Homer's time have some cultural differences, and similarities. One differece is, women were supposed to marry someone that would make theyre parents proud of them for marrying this person. Also, you were supposed to marery someone with great wealth. Unlike today, where you are supposed to marry someone that you love. Also, back then you were supposd to marry in your teens, where as today most people marry in their 20's or 30's. There are some similarities though. Back then you were supposed to be pretty, which still implies to today.

Today, some view women as they did a long time ago. Back then men view women as people who stayed home and do household chores such as. Taking care of the kids, doing the laundry, cleaning, cooking, it was a patriarchial society. However today we view women equal to men. For example in the world of politics women hold power, one example is Sarah Palin. Also women have the right of choosing who they marry, but back then they could choose.

Women in the time of Odysseus were different than women in our time. Women in the time of Odysseus married at a very early age, somewhere in their teenage years. Also, they married men that they didnt necessarily care about. In our time, women marry in their twenties, thirties and even some in their fourties. They care about who they marry and dont always worry about wealth and social stature as women did in earlier times.

In many families, the men go out and work while the women cook, clean, and tend to the children and may also have jobs that allow them to stay at home.

In the Odyssey, women were viewed as weak and timid. They relied on their husband and they did most of the work at home while their husbands were at war. Today, we still have this similarity sometimes. When men go into war, women become more independent on themselves and rely on themselves to do all of the work when the men are fighting in the war. But, sometimes women go into war as well, so today, women have more choices in life than in The Odyssey.

Woman in Homer’s time were treated much differentially then, from how we are now. Back then, women were treated very poorly and were mainly only there to cook and clean. Now, women and men share both of those roles and they also share the jobs that in Homer’s time were primarily left up to men, such is bringing in an income. Also, back then women were looked at for beauty and not there personality which is different from now also. These are a few ways how women were treated differently now then from in Homer’s time.

Today in our society, a normal woman would marry a man for his personality and how much they had in common. In Homers story it was the exact opposite. A woman would marry a man for his wealth and his appearence. Also a girl in the Odyssey would usually marry in her teen years, and in todays society you were expected to marry in your early twentys.

Today and in ancient greece women had similar values but different methods when i comes to marrige and men. In ancient greece women's familys searched for wealthy, powerful, and well thought of men. Today alot of women seek the same thing but they like to find the man and not thier familys. Many women today are still attracted to the same thing women in greece were, however the proccess of choosing has changed dramatically.
