For my summer reading, I read 1984. 1984 is a novel book describing the dystopia that, George Orwell thought, the world could fall into. The main character is Winston Smith, a government official who begins to have rebellious thoughts towards his government These thoughts become actions when he falls in love with a more aggressively rebellious woman, Julia. The government takes notice of the love affair, and incarcerates both of them. I would recommend this novel to a friend. It is a work of fiction that is not only merits reading for its notoriety, but is also a thought-provoking novel that inspires new ideas in one's head. Filled with great characters, dialogue, and plot, this novel is a must.

The book I elected to read this summer was The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. I am obviously not the only one who enjoyed this book; it was on the NY Times list for over 100 weeks. The Hunger Games may be the best book that I have ever read. I love the way that Suzanne Collins shows the emotions of so many characters in the face of death. There is so much tension between Katniss and those who try to help her; it is very realistic and I find that I can relate to it. If you haven’t read this book already, you are probably the only kid in this grade who hasn’t. I highly recommend The Hunger Games to anyone.

I chose to read 1984 for summer reading. In 1984, Winston Smith is a member of the party who thinks freely and rebelliously, a serious crime in this world. He further breaks the law by then falling in love with Julia. In the end, they get captured, tortured, and brainwashed into not thinking freely and loving big brother. I would highly suggest 1984 to anyone who enjoys a novel that fills your head with new ideas and inspiration. It also forces you think about the future of this world, how everyone will act, and if this is our future.

This summer, I selected The Hunger Games to read. In The Hunger Games, Katniss Everdeen and her family live in Panem, a Capitol surrounded by twelve Districts. The Districts each must send a boy and girl to games called The Hunger Games as the Capitol orders. Prim Everdeen, Katniss' sister, is chosen to go. Knowing that the Hunger Games are fights to the death, Katniss steps in for her younger sister instead. Together, she and Peeta Mellark faced harsh wilderness conditions and the threat of other people in the games to survive. I liked reading this book, because it is full of depth and adventure, and the characters are all very well-developed. The plot is also very planned out and it's not hard to follow what's going on. I would recommend this book to someone who likes action-packed books that are easy to read and finish.

For my summer reading book, I chose 1984. 1984 is a novel about what George Owell imagined it would be like to live in the future. Winston Smith, the main character, is a member of the Party who thinks he has freedom and thinks about escape. He breaks the laws multiple times in multiple ways and is eventually caught. 1984 is a very good book in it's own way. However, I would not suggest it to anyone who does not like depressing endings. This book is a mystery in its own way to the very last pages.

The book I chose to read this summer was 'The Secret Life of Bees.' The author, Sue Monk Kidd, tells the story of a girl named Lily Owens from South Carolina in 1964. Her father has been abusive ever since her mother died in a gun accident when she was little. After Rosaleen gets into trouble for insulting three racists, the two decide to run away. With the police searching for them, Lily tries to find any details related to the mother she barely knew. I enjoyed reading this book the entire time. It was always exciting and I could really picture all of the characters in my head. I would recommend this book to anyone!

I would definitely recommend The Secret Life of Bees, by Sue Monk Kidd to any number friends for the simple reason that it is a meaningful story. It is the story of Lily Owens, a girl who is forced to live with the fact that she killed her own mother when she was four years old. Living without parental love until she is fourteen, Lily is forced to run away to Tiburon, South Carolina to escape her father and the law. There, she has to come to terms with her feelings about a mother who abandoned her and new ideas about racism in the Deep South. It is well written and contains a lot of insightful ideas about human suffering and the resilience of love.

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins is an epic and suspenseful story about two teenagers faced with a life threatening challenge. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants an adventurous tale of survival. I liked how Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark portrayed such emotion as they battled The Capitol's Hunger Games, and the way it was written caused you to almost feel it with them. Though a depressing concept, the story line made it hard to put down. The rich detail and descriptions made its imaginative plot easier to understand. I would definitely recommend The Hunger Games to anyone who wants a unique tale of survival, love, and a journey for life.

For my choice summer reading book I read Marcelo in the Real World. I would recommend this book to a friend. I thought it was really interesting. I liked the main character, Marcelo, and learning about him and how he thought. My favorite part was when Marcelo stood up to his dad and did the right thing by helping that girl. I liked how Marcelo learned about the "real world" and how we saw him mature through out the book.

This summer I read 'The Hunger Games' by Suzanne Collins. It was an excellent book and a quick read too! 'The Hunger Games' was nerve racking and suspenseful throughout the entire book. The second you are introduced to the characters you love them, and you feel so much sympathy for everything that they must go through, while they are forced to participate in a battle to the deaths. Once you pick this book up you wont be able to put it down. I would recommend it to any number of people.

The book I read for summer reading was The Hunger Games. The Hunger Games is about a 16 year old girl named Katniss Everdeen. Katniss volunteers to enter The Hunger Games after her sister, Prim, is chosen out of her district. The Hunger Games are a fight to the death in which each 12 districts of Panem must send two tributes. Katniss, along with Peeta Mellark who is the other tribute from District 12, go to the capital city to compete in the games. Together, they must find a way to survive not only the other tributes, but the creatures and harsh conditions inside the arena. I would recommend The Hunger Games to anyone who enjoys fast-paced, exciting books with lots of action. There are many unexpected twists in the plot. This book takes no time to read, because after you start it, you don't want to put it down.

This summer I chose to read The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. In this story, sixteen year old Katniss Everdeen takes the place of her younger sister Prim in the capitol's brutal version of entertainment called the Hunger Games. Once in the Hunger Games every player from districts one through twelve must fight to survive while trying to kill the other tributes. Both Katniss and her fellow tribute from district twelve, Peeta Mellark work together to get through the life threatening games, murdering anyone who tries to stop them from completing their one goal: to win. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes books that are both exciting yet unpredictable. I truly enjoyed reading this book, it was difficult to stop reading once the book finally came to a close.

My summer book was The Hunger Games. A sixteen-year-old girl, Katniss, participates in a brutal game of survival against the 23 other chosen tributes. Katniss fights for her family, her District, her dignity, and her life alongside fellow District 12 tribute Peeta Mellark as they are forced to battle not other tributes but whatever else the Gamemakers send their way.

I choose to read The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd for my summer reading book. It is an exciting book that I would defiantly recommend to anyone of my friends. What I thought made this book worth reading was the characters and the plot. The characters seemed like real people from the 1960’s, so it was interesting to me to read about characters from when my parent’s grow up. The plot never slowed down, it always kept you guessing what was going to happen next. I would advise someone to read the book The Secret Life of Bees because you can relate the characters to someone in your life and because the plot keeps you guessing.

Last month I read The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd. The story is set in the deep South in 1964, when blacks were granted the right to vote and racial tensions were highest. But the story isn't just another book about the hardships of blacks in a sea of whites. The story follows the journey of Lily Owens, who runs away from her abusive father with her housekeeper, Rosaleen, who is injured and in jail for "disturbing the peace." Lily breaks her out, and they travel to Tiburon SC, where Lily believes her dead mother once visited, and where Lily hopes to find out more about her. There she meets several friendly black ladies who let her and Rosaleen stay at their house. The plot is a little slow at times, and I felt some questions were left unanswered, but the author is very good with description, and I felt as though I was melting in the middle of a cotton field in South Carolina at times. When the plot does move along, the results could be sometimes traffic or revealing, especially when Lily does find out more about her mother. This book is brilliant for those who enjoy being hit with surprises between lethargic moments

This summer, I read the Secret Life of Bees, by Sue Monk Kidd. It was the story of Lily Owens, a young girl, who has the burden of killing her mother haunting her. Lily sets out to find clues of her mothers' past in Tiburon, South Carolina, home to three beekeeper sisters. Lily experiences a very new different way of life living with three African-American women. I would highly recommend this book to anyone because it is a very relatable story. I could definitely see the hardships with living with a father like T-Ray and how much of a gratifying change it would be to live in a household with the Boatwright sisters. The Secret Life of Bees is a very worthwhile read!

This summer, I read the novel 'the Hunger Games' by Suzanne Collins. The story introduces 16-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who bravely volunteers in place of her sister to participate in a game known as 'the Hunger Games', where 24 children are sent to fight until death on live television. After reading the first two pages I was immediately captivated, and I am convinced that it is the most thrilling book I have ever read. I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for an absolutely phenomenal book to read!

This summer I read the book, "Marcelo in the Real World" by Francisco X. Stork. Personally I would recommend this book to any friend because it has an excellent story to it. I believe that it teaches you that change is a good thing and that anything can change the way you feel about someone or something. The part about the book that I liked the most was how Marcelo learned how to cope to the "real world". Especially the way he thought and worked hard to understand and interact with people and his autism. I also liked how he went against his father and changed his whole life around to help a girl. He changed his whole life, including his school, his relationship with his father and his work staff just to help one girl get what she deserved in life. The book was very intriguing and for sure I would recommend to anyone that was looking for a wonderful book.

During my summer vacation, I read "The Hunger Games" by Suzanne Collins. It takes place in the futuristic city of Panem, where, after a war, the 12 districts have to send 2 children each (a total of 24) to compete as tributes in the Hunger Games, a fight to the death on TV. Katniss Everdeen is chosen as one, along with a "friend", Peeta (why not Peter, I don't know) and are forced to survive in the harshness of the Stadium, where even the Gamemakers will try to kill eliminate them.

I am going to be completely honest here when I say that whether, or not, I recommend 1984 to a friend would depend on the friend. 1984 is a very dense book and you need to stay focused to capture it all. With that being said, if you cannot focus it is incredibly hard to grasp everything. The characters, plot and general description tend to run in a relatively pessimistic way. There is no up side; which a lot of people, my self included, look for when reading a book. I would recommend this book to anyone who has the will and the ability to focus through a very sobering book.

It has a lot of action throughout the whole book and once I finished the first book I had to read the other two. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves adventure novels.

I would recommend to a friend if they enjoyed a polictical intrigue. It is not for those who want a fast moving adventure book. The first 50 pages are very dull and slow i would recommend spark notes for those pages are just backround info. Past that though the book becomes very intriguing and faster paced. the other part to this book is it might ruin your mood for the next day or week because its a tad depressing.
