Your assignment: In 4-6 sentences, describe a topic in the The Hunger Games that was interesting to YOU. Why do you find it interesting?
Today we discussed something that I found interesting in The Hunger Games: the power of the media. The media (including TV, internet, newspapers & radio) is the avenue through which we learn about the world. Therefore, the media is VERY important in our lives. Does it report on events accurately? Honestly? How much control does the government have over what the media says? This was an issue raised in The Hunger Games that I found interesting.

What I found interesting in the Hunger Games is the arena. It has to be huge if they barely ever see the edge of it while participating in the games. Also, there are so many different kinds of places in the arena, such as woods, rocks, and rivers. I found it interesting because the Capitol must spend a lot of time and money and effort making the new arenas every year. It's insane that they spend all that time and money making the arena to make many people suffer instead of helping the districts who are starving and poor. That's what I found interesting in the Hunger Games.

A topic that i found interesting was the amount of control the capitol had over the citizens of the districts and the control of what citizens knew about the capitol. I find this interesting because it is pretty much the same as some countries around the world for example china and north Korea. I think that that is interesting because this is supposed to be pretty far ahead in the future and in the authors mind she still thinks that the world will be the same and its interesting to see her perspective and mine and how different they are. Also it interest me how manipulative they are of all the news about the capitol just like china and north Korea.

I think what was so interesting in the Hunger Games was that, it was based on a reality TV show and tributes from all districts must face a death toll in their lives. They must all be against each other and kill each other. If it were me, there would be no way, I could’ve survived when I need to kill those surrounding me. Also, the Capitol has all the power and they just sit back and enjoy the show while Katniss and Peeta are facing serious danger. Today, there is no show on the media that is basically about how there must be one person to win yet kill everyone else. Their family must watch them try to risk their lives and survive all at once.

I thought that the the most interesting part of the book to me was when Katniss and Peeta were having the final battle with Kato. This was interesting because to me it was the climax of the book and it was extremely suspenseful. It was action packed and it kept me on the edge of my seat. This was also suspenseful because it was the end of the hunger games and what ever two people survived were the winners of the games. Peeta was very hurt so there was a strong possibility that he would have gotten killed.

A topic that was interesting to me was when the reaping started and when Prim's name got called. Then Katniss volunteered to go into the games insteed of Prim. Then the crowd didn't clap or anything. So they just continuied the reaping. This was a topic I found interesting because the Capitol said something else than what actually happened at the reaping.

What I found interesting in the Hunger Games was that the country Panem kept Capitol completely different from district 12 and the other districts. In the Capitol if you were fat that was considered a bad thing because of how much food they have, while in district 12 if you were fat that was considered amazing because everyone is starving to death. I think that's terrible that a nation can treat one part of their country so much different from the other parts. Another example is that in the Capitol if you look old that's considered a bad thing, but in district 12 if you look old that's a good thing because not a lot of people live to an old age. They should share the food and electronics throughout the nation instead of keeping all the needs in the capitol.

A topic I found interesting in the hunger games were the games themselves. The idea of this amazed me. It's hard to imagine what you would do if this actually happened in our society, especially if you got picked or one of your friends/family members got picked. I don't believe this could ever happen in our society, but you never know.

A topic I found significantly interesting was how selfless a person could be in the society of district 12. When lives are on the line, and basic humanity is thrown out the window, a person's natural instincts are to act like animals. This means everyone for themselves, not in Katniss's case though. When Prim's name was drawn at the Reaping, Katniss sacrificed her own safety without a moments hesitation. When in the arena, Rue (her faithful alliance) was killed by a ruthless tribute. Instead of just letting her die quietly and unnoticed, she went against the Capital and sang to her until her last heart beat. She did not care if this harmed her safety in the arena, she simply did not want Rue to die in vain.

In the book, Hunger Games, I found it interesting that in the Capitol if you looked old or were fat, they considered that a bad thing due to the amount of food and makeup they have. However, in District 12 if you were old, they considered that a good thing because it means you've lived a long time, which most citizens have not. Plus, if you were fat it means you have a lot of food and should be lucky. The perspectives of the two different places in Panem were majorly different. I think that the diversity of the country of Panem is very interesting.

The part of the book The Hunger Games that is most interesting for me was the games itself. The capitol is still forcing the districts to participate in the games 75 years after the rebellion. The capitol thinks the games will cause people to be afriad of rebelling again but they are mistaken. The only thing the games are doing is making 23 innocent people die and that will anger the districs. The goverment in The Hunger Games is a political dictatorship. The country of Panem reminds me alot of modern day china and libya.

What I found interesting was the Hunger Games and how the capital made it mandatory for everyone in Panem to watch them. The point of the Hunger Games, according to the capital, is to prevent another rebellion against the Capital, but this rebellion happened over 75 years ago. This means that basically no one in any district was alive then, since most people wouldn't be able to stay healthy for that long on such a low income. So why do they have to put innocent people through the tragedy of watching people, possibly friends or family, die year after year, for something they didn't do? If the Capital is that paranoid about losing it's power, they should remind the citizens about District 13 and previous Hunger Games, but not force innocent people kill each other on national television. I just don't see how they can make citizens watch people, possibly friends or family, die on national television and not even feel no remorse about it.

The most interesting topic in the Hunger Games to me, would have to be the capitol having the Hunger Games for over 75 years now. The capitol has the Games every year to prevent another rebellion. I think all the districts get the point that the capitol holds a lot of power and is very strong. Whats even more interesting is how districts prepare differently for the Hunger Games. Districts one two and four are prepared to kill since they were infants, while other districts aren't as ready for the Games.

I thought the differences in wealth between the citizens of Panem and the Capitol was interesting. Most of the districts were very poor and living in rural, run-down areas. Some were more priveledged and could afford to train and prepare their children for the Hunger Games. However, the Capitol had losts and lots of money. This just shows how gready and selfish the Capitol really is.

The most interesting part of the Hunger Games in my opinion was how the Capitol used the Hunger Games themselves to control all parts of life in the Districts. The Hunger Games kept the Capitol in power by terrorizing the Districts. Knowing that a family member could be called at any time to participate and likely be killed was horrible. You could get more grain and oil by putting your name in more times to the selecting process. Some Districts trained tributes to increase the chance of winning and getting more food. This showed how much the Capitol controlled everyone through the Hunger Games.

The most interesting part of The Hunger Games to me was the fact that this whole life style of District 12 was so unreal. When I think about the idea that there are some many people in the world that are starving and struggling to provide food for there families, it doesn’t seem so far off. Also, the desperate measures that Katniss and other characters went to provide for there families at such a young age amazed me. This all seems so crazy but this is a reality for some kids our age in other countries. This is a topic I found the most interesting in The Hunger Games.

The most interesting part of The Hunger Games is the idea of the Games. It is so interesting to me how they just take people from different districts and put them into one big jungle of there own to kill off one another. I could never picture

The most interesting part of the Hunger Games is that Katniss and her generation are fed up of the Capitol controlling their society. Its cool that the kids are the ones to defy the Capitol. Even though Katniss and Peeta are forced to compete in the games they still refuse to play by the Capitols rules. Before Rues death all Katniss wants to do is survive in the games but after Rue is killed she decides to focus on changing the games for future generations and to make a statement. She is determined to defy the Capitol.

The topic that I found the most interesting in The Hunger Games is the fact that people are entertained by children killing eachother in such brutal ways. Even if the government is different the people apear to be similar to the people of out time.If this were to happen now people would be disgusted and horrified. people in there time dont seem to really care.

An intresting topic to me that was in the hunger games was the reapings. The ways that they would do all of there things for the reapings, likerandom names being called from each district. Also how some people would train to go into the hunger games was crazy. To me the whole process of the reapings was intresting

What i found interesting about The Hunger Games was how much the capital controlled all the districts. I mean, the had The Hunger Games every year and no one really could do anything about it because no one would stand up to the capital. The capital made children go into a arena where they had to find there own food and survive in the harsh environments. But the worst part was they had to hunt down the other competaters and murder them. Its such a unreal thiing to think about... and the wierdest thing about it to me is no one really could do anything about it because of such control the capital had over the disricts. Its scary to think about someone/something having that much control over you.

The thing that I found interesting in the book , the hunger games, is the hunger games itself and also the Capitol. It occured to me that The concept of the hunger games is very similar to gladiators ancient Roman times. Think of the capitol as the roman empire and the tributes as the gladiators. The rules are very much the same you can't get out of the ring, and all you have to do is survive. Even the choosing of the gladiators are very similar, on roman times they would choose a slave or a criminal and they also have volunteers. That was what I found interesting about the hunger games.

The topic I found interesting in the Hunger Games book was the fact that katniss met up with the avox girl after watching her be taken away from the capitol. The reason this is interesting is because first of all the chances are really not that great and second, katniss gets to apologize for not helping her and putting her in this life of serving.

the topic that i found interesting in the Hunger Games was how the goverment controlled the people. The goverment used fear, hunger, and death to control the districts. The goverment also kept the districts seperate, so they couldn't team up against the capitol.
